The Mission of the Academic WorldQuest (AWQ) Competition is to inspire high school students across the United States to adopt a culture of global engagement.
The World Affairs Council of the Desert’s competition is just one of over 50 World Affairs Council competitions held throughout the year. These events involve more than 3,000 students from a wide range of geographic and economic backgrounds. The ultimate goal for these students is to earn the opportunity to represent their communities at the prestigious Carlos and Malú Alvarez Academic WorldQuest National Competition. Since 2003, winning teams have traveled to Washington, DC, every April to vie for the national championship.
