World affairs shape national and even local affairs. We invite you to discover more about the global conversation. As a nonprofit organization founded in 1973, World Affairs Council of the Desert (WACD) has a long history of presenting intelligent nonpartisan dialogue about national and international topics. Expert speakers including ambassadors, corporate leaders, foreign dignitaries, and academics join us in a stimulating social setting, where members can both further their knowledge and mingle with peers. As a member of the prestigious national World Affairs Council, WACD takes no positions on issues; rather, it encourages many points of few. The organization welcomes students from College of the Desert and CSUSB Palm Desert. It also produces the Academic WorldQuest, an academic decathlon for all Coachella Valley High schools in which teams of students compete for a chance to travel to the National WorldQuest Competition in Washington D.C. We encourage you to join, learn, and help support the education of our future leaders.
