Rushan was an excellent, impassioned speaker, bringing a very important issue to our attention. Her own issues with the Chinese government about her sister's imprisonment and the numerous offenses against the Uyghur people were presented with many facts to authenticate her criticisms of Chinese officials. She equated the genocide committed against the Uyghurs to those perpetrated by Germany in WWII. She lamented the failure of Western governments to sanction China for these crimes against humanity. Rushan certainly provided us with new information and support for her cause.

We were first time attendees and enjoyed the format. The speaker made her point, however she became repetitious in her message.
The moderator could have reduced the number of questions as the answers ended up pretty much the same to all the questions.

We look forward to Cofer Black.

An illuminating yet ultimately emotionally disturbing presentation on a tragic human rights crisis many of us may know little about. Watching our speaker Rushan Abbas's energy and emotions mount during the Q&A make viewing the recording (on our website) of this segment of the presentation well worthwhile.

Kudos to our programs committee team member Marla Ahlgrimm for bringing this presentation to us and for leading an engaging audience questions segment.

Such important information that we don't get from other sources. Very sobering.

Very impressive presentation about a situation that's hardly ever covered in our news. I hope her campaign leads to some solutions.

This presentation with Q&A was very revealing, nicely supplementing our tracking of the Uyghur crisis in China. Ms. Rushan Abbas proved to be a very effective representative for the plight of her people. A few introductory sentences regarding the historical aspects of East Turkistan and its population would have provided better insight for our audience.

One glaring observation from the presentation is the woeful ineffectiveness of the United Nations to deal with this issue of "crimes against humanity", given the pressure applied by the Chinese Government within that organization. Similar to the UN/WHO ineffectiveness to validate sources of the Covid-19 virus within China.

Perhaps the WACD could find a future speaker able to objectively share the current state of affairs and pros/cons for continuing support (or not) of the UN organization.

Fantastic venue, with delicious food and a sobering education on an issue we don't hear about in the news. Thank you for bringing this topic to light. WACD is offering a great service to our desert valley.
