Very relevant subject.
Unfortunately the audio system did not work well
So it was difficult to follow presentation.
The new format of using a moderator did not work out very well. I believe a direct presentation on the advertised subject by the speaker would have been better.

Nils,
I share your concerns. The audio quality certainly did not meet our standards. We are committed to correcting this issue before the December dinner.
This was the first time we used the "moderated discussion". Some thought it was effective and others, such as yourself did not like it.
Unless there is a compelling reason, future presentations will consist of 20-30 minutes of comments followed by the Q&A period.
Thanks for taking the time to provide valuable feedback.

He was an excellent speaker, obviously very knowledgeable and able to clearly communicate his thoughts. He answered questions thoroughly. We learned a lot.

Michael,
Glad you enjoyed the program. Bet you will enjoy the December speaker. We will return to the traditional format of 20-30 minutes of comments followed by the Q&A period.

GREAT VENUE, BEAUTIFUL FOOD, INTERESTING TABLE MATES! NOT A WORKABLE PROGRAM FORMAT. THE SPEAKER WAS GREAT WHEN WE SPOKE DURING THE COCKTAIL HOUR. THE 2 CHAIR FORMAT WAS NOT AFFECTED. SPEAKING FROM A STANDING MIKE TAKES IN THE WHOLE AUDIENCE. THE EFFECT OF SEATING DID NOT INCLUDE THE AUDIENCE. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Best speaker in a long time. His knowledge of how markets and rates impact domestically and worldwide was presented from one who works at a level deeper than the layman.

The audio was sufficiently loud for the first row but clarity was at issue.

Food was unacceptable. Fish was gamey and steak too rare. Cake was wonderful.

Constance,
Your feedback is helpful. See comments to Nils about the audio.
If you experience another issue with the food, please immediately notify our staff. Thunderbird is committed to high standards and their F&B manager is constantly on the floor. She will correct the issue on the spot.
Give them another opportunity.
See you in December.

Mr. McLoughlin was very generous with his time by meeting with the students for one hour prior to the event. He was approachable, and students felt comfortable asking him questions.

The main presentation was difficult to hear for many participants. On the way out, I heard many concerns. The format seemed to have mixed reviews.

It was a joy to return to Thunderbird. Good decision by the board. Linda and her crew were very well organized.

I found Mr. McLoughlin very knowledgeable and inspiring. He has an impressive grasp of the economy. It was a timely topic.

Priscilla,
Your comments are always appreciated. See my response to Nils regarding the issues you raised.
The support you and Chuck provide for the AWQ program is above and beyond! We will be providing information to the membership about your pledge to match any donations up to $10,000.
As you shared with me, a successful campaign will reach or exceed an interim goal of $100,000 in the endowment fund.

I agree with the first comment about lack of clarity of the conversation. I was in the first row and in front of a speaker and still had a problem hearing significant parts of the conversation. I have no hearing problem and can only imagine the difficulty a person with impaired hearing had. I believe the problem would be solved by having a speaker talk directly to the microphone. But the steak was fine medium rare.

The venue and meal were excellent. Aside from the difficulty of hearing, the speaker seemed quite knowledgeable and interesting. I would have liked to have heard more from him about the “world economy “ as advertised. A number of questioned were instead focused on U.S. interest rates, housing, etc. Perhaps the speaker should have been given more time to present and less time in questions as previously done. We were impressed that the speaker gave his time to the students.

This was our first evening since joining and we felt very welcome. We very much like the venue and loved the dinner. We did have a lot of difficulty hearing the speaker and we are hopeful that the sound issues can be addressed for the next meeting.
